Wheat Ridge is a Home Rule Municipality that was incorporated in 1969. It is the 24th largest city in Colorado with a population of 31,372, as based on the 2016 Census estimate. It is located approximately 6 miles west of Downtown Denver, 29 miles from Denver International Airport, and has a land area of 9.4 square miles. The city located in Jefferson county. Wheat Ridge Parks, Forestry and Open Space Division maintains 21 city parks occupying more than 170 acres, seven miles of trails, 300 acres of open space.

Our focus is primarily on the South Metro communities of Denver with a particular specialization on the Cherry Creek High School boundary neighborhoods.  This includes- Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, the Denver Tech Center, Englewood, Greenwood Village, and all those unincorporated pockets located within.
